
New York College honored its graduates in a grand and emotional Graduation Ceremony, featuring Dr. Greg Walker, Acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Greater Manchester, as the keynote speaker, in the presence of distinguished personalities, Rectors, and Deans from partner universities.
The event commenced with a speech by Professor and author Dimitris Bourantas, Rector of New York College and founder of the postgraduate programs in Human Resource Management and Executive MBA at the Athens University of Economics and Business. His deeply human and inspiring message urged graduates to “continue their journey towards their own Ithaca, turning their dreams into reality.”

A highlight of the evening was the honorary recognition awarded to Olympian and Balkan champion Maria Polyzou, the first Greek woman to run the marathon in the Olympic Games and the only woman to have completed the Pheidippidean Feat. The distinction was granted in recognition of her remarkable journey and her contribution to promoting the values of perseverance, self-awareness, and service.
Dr. Elias Foutsis, Hon PhD, President and Founder of the New York College Educational Group, warmly wished graduates a successful professional journey and encouraged them to remain committed to knowledge, lifelong learning, and personal development. As he characteristically stated:
“Learning is like rowing. If you stop rowing, the current will take you backwards. Keep learning and retraining – it’s the only way forward.”
