The Workshop on "Effective Public Administration and Local Government: The Critical Role of Leadership" was held on Friday, March 6, 2020, in the Officers' Club of Thessaloniki. The keynote speaker was Mr. Professor Dimitris Bourantas Rector of New York College Educational Group.
In the crowded hall of the event greeting were addressed by Maria Antoniou, Head of the Office of the Prime Minister of Macedonia, Stavros Kalafatis MP and Secretary General of New Democracy political party, MP Georgios Arvanitidis, MP Dimitris Kouvelas, Mayor of Thessaloniki Konstantinos Zervas, Spyros Stathoulis, Secretary of Local Government, Konstantinos Balomenos, Director-General for the Directorate-General for Civil Defense and International Relations of the Ministry of National Defense and Dimitris Kirmikiroglou, President of the Alumni Association of the National School of Public Administration and Local Government.

The event started with a greeting by Dr. Christos Diamantopoulos, who made an introduction on the subject, asking key questions to be answered by the Speakers. The presentations were followed by greetings and presentations by the keynote speakers, explaining how Public Administration is linked to the Private Sector, as well as its importance to the country's productive reconstruction and development prospects. There has also been extensive mention on gaps in public officials (skills, etc.), as well as how they can be bridged. Proposals were made for better use of human resources, and there was a report - analysis of the government plan for the Executive State. The speaker then spoke as Professor and Rector of the New York College Educational Group, Mr. Dimitris who spoke about the crucial role of leadership in effective public administration, thus shaking the audience with his positions.
As the issue was very interesting and of particular importance, at the closing of the Conference, the organizers promised the audience to organize other academic events and activities on this topic.
