Visit to the Institute of Applied Biosciences (INEB) – CERTHBiomedical Science students from NYC Thessaloniki visited the Institute of Applied Biosciences (INEB) of the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH) in Thermi. The visit was organized by Dr. Evgenia Papadaki, Head of the Department. The session included an introduction by Mr. Nikos Katsiadakis (Outreach Department), followed by a guided tour through the Genomics Research Unit (focused on Next Generation Sequencing) and the Biochemical Analysis Unit, led by researcher Evangelia Mouchtaropoulou.
Dr. Sue Force, Link Tutor from the University of Greenwich, visited NYC Thessaloniki and addressed students regarding emerging career opportunities for graduates. She highlighted evolving scientific fields in Biomedical Science, such as forensic science, implantable medical devices, and clinical trials, and discussed with Dietetics and Nutrition students topics including nutritional epidemiology and the development of innovative, functional foods.
NYC successfully hosted a digital event titled “INNOVATIVE ADVANCES IN BIOSCIENCES AND NUTRITION: TOWARDS THE FUTURE.”
Featured speakers included:
Dr. Paris Roidos (DNA Therapeutics): Pharmacogenetics in personalized medicine.
Dr. Achilleas Papatheodorou (Embryolab): Applications of AI in biosciences.
Dr. Evgenia Papadaki: Microorganisms as sustainable tools in biotech industries.
